More twittering outside our bedroom. A finch made a home in a pot hanging just outside the door. (I know it's out of focus, shaddap.)
She laid four nice little eggs.
They are starting to hatch.
When we step outside, mama flies away. When we make little peep peep sounds, baby says FEEEEED MEEE!

And I just noticed she used toilet paper from our neighbors' toilet paper tree.
That is like, the coolest thing ever. Woah!
Sweet!
those white things around the nest/built for the nest are toilet papers? O_O
Oh well, it is still a rare opportunity to see such event. (hatching eggs with live birds)
Cool! how random...this is the second blog I've read in the past half hour where the blogger posted pics of birds building a nest on their porch! Guess it's that time o' year. :)
Nice to see something positive on a Monday morning. The ciiirrcle of life ;) Very cool.
Yeah, my neighbor got TP'd on Good Friday, which was a laugh because they were gone the whole weekend and didn't know about it for days. Evidently Missus Birdie cleaned it up a little for them when she needed nesting material.
I check on her every day. Whenever she sees movement she flies away. I guess when you're only four inches long, staying to defend the nest isn't your first instinct.
we just found a finch nest hidden the the tall cyprus in S's backyard - he poked around to show me, and FLLLUTTRRR! the finch shot out like - well, like a finch outta cyprus. we figured we'd disturbed her (him?) enough, so we backed out. I'd love to see it there are eggs in it, though, so might try another peek...
