Naysayers

SfGate has their BMan page up again. Note the discussion on why you would never go to Burning Man. There are some good reasons. The event really is something other than what some of its promoters would have you think. But who cares? Fun is fun. And as for people who grouse about desert camping conditions: Screw them, no mercy. More dust for me (or more something).

Betting I'd get annoyed quickly with the...idea of BM. All in attendance can't be embracing the love and glitter and dust all the time. Assholes and posers go to BM too, yes?

Just like everywhere.

The idea is good. People are amazingly friendly. Of course there are assholes here and there and it comes out one way or another though I suspect that whatever it is that assholes feed off of will be in short supply. Posers are hard (for me) to pick out. How do you identify insincerity when the expectation is that you define your own experience? Someone who buys props at a costume store and rents an RV and goes around taking pictures of himself being there is simply experiencing it in his own way. I would be less annoyed at them than at someone who got annoyed at them.

Anyway. Prep brings a peculiar mixture of emotions for someone in my position. I really need to make life simpler, maybe this is a step, maybe not.
