Can't Believe I Haven't Read It Yet

Here's a synopsis:
For the uninitiated, the moral of the story is simply this: Politicians invariably respond to crises -- that in most cases they themselves created -- by spawning new government programs, laws and regulations. These, in turn, generate more havoc and poverty, which inspires the politicians to create more programs . . . and the downward spiral repeats itself until the productive sectors of the economy collapse under the collective weight of taxes and other burdens imposed in the name of fairness, equality and do-goodism.
Name that book! (Hint: A survey by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club found that readers rated it as the second-most influential book in their lives, behind only the Bible.)

I know y'all's are joking, but geez. Too many people seem to think individual effort is a bad thing and that gummint has the answers. Considering recent history, I honestly can't imagine why.

Anyway, my only goal wrt A.S. is to read it before the movie comes out.

(I know Rand lacked compassion. But, properly tempered, her vision remains the soundest.)

Right now all I care about is having an endless supply of triptans. :)

IT's also funny that I'm writing this comment while wearing my "Who is John Galt" T-shirt. That book moved me more than any other book I have ever read in my life, and I pray that Brangelina doesn't ruin, or water it down in a movie.

I'm fine with reward for individual effort, but there has to be some recognition that not everyone starts from the same line, and those way behind that line could work their asses off and still get nowhere, while the privileged do little and end up soaking in wealth and kudos for their "effort." That's just too unfair for my taste.

Where's mah prize???
